The launching ceremony of ExxonMobil's R & D center in Shanghai was held on March 31, 2011. It is reported that the center has invested US $90 million and is the third largest R & D center of the company in the world

Song Changli, vice president of global technology of ExxonMobil Chemical Company, said, "the Shanghai R & D center enables us to cooperate more closely with customers in Asia for the application of high-end products and customize solutions that meet the needs of the local market." According to reports, the Shanghai R & D center has a total of 200 employees, including 70 technicians, most of whom are from China's first-class universities
ExxonMobil Shanghai R & D center, located in Shanghai Zizhu Science Park, covers an area of 27000 square meters, with advanced laboratory analysis and testing instruments and production scale product processing equipment, including film blowing and casting film, injection molding, blending processing and packaging
it is also revealed that ExxonMobil's joint venture project in Fujian Province is running smoothly and is looking for opportunities to expand capacity and production.
