The launching ceremony of ExxonMobil's R & D center in Shanghai was held on March 31, 2011. It is reported that the center has invested US $90 million and is the third largest R & D center of the company in the world

It is reported that the Shanghai R & D center will play a vital role in the development of new high-end products, which will be produced or sold all over the world. "We expect significant growth in high-end products, and the center will support this growth by providing customers with innovative solutions."

Song Changli, vice president of global technology of ExxonMobil Chemical Company, said, "the Shanghai R & D center enables us to cooperate more closely with customers in Asia for the application of high-end products and customize solutions that meet the needs of the local market." According to reports, the Shanghai R & D center has a total of 200 employees, including 70 technicians, most of whom are from China's first-class universities

ExxonMobil Shanghai R & D center, located in Shanghai Zizhu Science Park, covers an area of 27000 square meters, with advanced laboratory analysis and testing instruments and production scale product processing equipment, including film blowing and casting film, injection molding, blending processing and packaging

it is also revealed that ExxonMobil's joint venture project in Fujian Province is running smoothly and is looking for opportunities to expand capacity and production. Paul theys, chairman of ExxonMobil (China) Investment Co., Ltd., said that the company's projects in Fujian were put into operation on time, in line with the budget and operated well, "and the project was very successful". He also said, "in the future, once the production is expanded, new projects are more popular than mergers and acquisitions, because they can give full play to their advantages."

ExxonMobil, Sinopec, Saudi Aramco and Fujian Province jointly established the first joint venture in China. The requirements for the matching stability and interchangeability of its parts are different. The fully integrated refining, chemical and product oil marketing joint venture was completed and put into operation in 2009, and the project can be called a world-class project
